Obituary for George Saddler, Jr.

George Saddler Jr., was born in Hartwell, Georgia on June 16, 1925 to George and Della Saddler. He entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

In 1943, George entered into the United States Naval Academy where he served as a First Class Seaman and was honorably discharged in December of 1945. Upon returning home he fathered two children, Marion and William of Hartwell.

He married Mozelle Mack on June 19, 1948 and migrated to Bridgeport, Connecticut for a better life. They were married for 69 years. From this union two children were born, Regina and Marvin. George was a devoted family man. He was influential in the lives of his nephews telling them stories of how he rode with Jessie James and Wyatt Earp. He worked at Remington Arms as a tool setter for 33 years.

George will be most remembered for the humor and fun he brought to all family functions. He was an avid card player and enjoyed following his son’s basketball career. He enjoyed doing repairs and gardening. There was nothing he couldn’t fix! Later on in life he enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed. He was predeceased by one brother Jimay, five sisters Gracie, Ollie Bell, Alice, Vera and Sarah, and one son Marion. He leaves to cherish his loving wife Mozelle, two sons William of South Carolina and Marvin (Teresa) of Ansonia, special son Guillermo King of Bridgeport, one daughter Regina of Bridgeport, special daughter Beverly Mack of Bridgeport, 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives. He was loved by all he encountered.
