Obituary for Hannah Troy

Hannah Troy, 71 of Bridgeport entered eternal rest Saturday, July 14th, 2018 at Regal Care of Southport, Connecticut.

Hannah was born to the late Luke and Corene George McKoy in Whiteville, North Carolina and was raised with the rest of her nine siblings. Hannah was educated in North Carolina public School system where she completed her high school education at Artesia High School in Whiteville, North Carolina.

Hannah later relocated with her family and was a resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut since 1969. She had been employed as a security guard and care giver throughout the years until her health declined. Caring for others came naturally for Hannah as she would always extend a helping hand to those in need.

Hannah was a devoted member of West End Tabernacle C.M.E Church of Bridgeport CT for many years where she served as one of the original ushers. Hannah later became a member at Pentecostal Church of Prayer and Deliverance of Bridgeport CT where she served as an usher and missionary. In later years Hannah returned to her original church home of West End Tabernacle C.M.E Church.

Hannah was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother. Her children meant the world to her; there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them and no matter their ages she would always refer to them as “my boys”. Hannah loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with both family and friends. Hannah had a big heart and was very social; she would often spark conversation with almost anyone in passing. Hannah’s personality had a variety of levels depending on the time of day or person she encountered. She was a little rough around the edges at times and had no problem saying what she felt and letting you know exactly what was on her mind. She rarely missed church services or events; you would usually find Hannah providing support during homegoing services while serving as an usher, and comforting family’s in their time of need. Hannah was full of life and her unique smile and side stare will truly be missed.

Hannah was predeceased by her late husband Samuel Troy, her only daughter Trenda McKoy, parents Luke and Corene (George) McKoy, three brothers Nathaniel, David, and Daniel Lee McKoy, and sister Elnore Scott.

Left to cherish her memory are: Sons; James Leroy McKoy, (Special Daughter-in-Love, Michelle Erwin), Jermaine McKoy Bridgeport CT; Two grandchildren; Janissa McKoy and James McKoy Jr, Cornwall New York; Two brothers, Floyd Bobby George and James Leon McKoy, Bridgeport CT; Three sisters, Mary (Desmond George) Fearon of Newburgh, NY, Mildred Louise McKoy, New Haven CT, Ruth Sanabria, Naugatuck CT. Also, adopted brother and sister; Nephew, Jerry McKoy, Milford CT and Niece, Mary Louise McKoy, FL.
