Obituary for Lonnie E. Blackwell

Lonnie E. Blackwell, 91 entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2018, at the Ludlowe Nursing Facility of Fairfield, CT. He was born in Bridgeport, CT on October 18, 1926 to the late Lonnie Blackwell and Mattie Brewer Blackwell.

He was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and was educated in the Bridgeport Public School System and attended Warren Harding High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.

After his term with the Army, he accepted employment with Jenkins Valves for 38 years. He was a Past Master of Doric Lodge #4 F. & A.M. Bridgeport, CT; Past High Priest of the Royal Arch Mason, Past President of the Eldorado Club, member of Col. Charles Young Post American Legion 140 Bridgeport, CT., Past President of both Senior and Mens Choir, one of the founding members of Supper Program at Russell Temple. Lonnie was a life long member of Russell Temple C.M.E. Church of Bridgeport.

He is predeceased by siblings Alice B. Smith, William (Bill) Blackwell, Booker T. Blackwell and Hubert (Herby) Blackwell. Left to cherish his memory is wife of 48 years, Laurel Notice Blackwell, one brother-in-law, Darwin Robert Notice (Frances) of FL; one sister-in-law, Erica Notice Simpson of England and a host of nephews, nieces, (grands and great grands) cousins and friends.
