Obituary for Lucius Nelson

Lucius Nelson Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the precious age of 87. He was born in Camden, South Carolina along with his identical twin brother Edward Nelson on October 30, 1930 to the late Edward Nelson Sr. and Marie Austin. He eventually transitioned from Camden, South Carolina and became a longtime resident of Bridgeport, Connecticut for the past 65 years.

Lucius attended Jackson High School during the segregation era. He was a dedicated hard worker and retired from GE after 30 years and Sikorsky Aircraft after 15 years. He lived a life that was full of joy and happiness. “Poppy” was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was very proud of his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Christanna Irene Nelson, his daughter Robin M. Nelson-Bellamy, his granddaughter Che Monique Bellamy, unborn grandson Corey Bellamy, and two sisters Hattie L. Gieseler and Mary M. Thomas.

He leaves behind to cherish his life and legacy; his twin brother Edward Nelson Jr., six sons; Darly Nelson-Wilder of Fayetteville, NC; Gary, Stephen, Lucius Jr., Bruce and Brent Nelson all of Bridgeport, CT; seventeen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.
