Obituary for Sophronia B McLaughlin

Fronie was born in Danville, Virginia on November 9, 1934 to the late, Willie Greene and Olivia (Dodson-Greene). Fronie had a scholarship to attend Hampton University in Hampton Virginia, for Theater Arts, but met Clyde McLaughlin in August of 1953 and after only three weeks of courting Clyde proposed to Fronie and they married in September of 1953. They relocated immediately to Connecticut and from this union they had three beautiful children, Clyde Jr., Tanya, and Dawn. Clyde and Fronie remained married until the day of her death.

On February 22, 2018 our beloved wife and mother Sophronia, affectionately called Fronie, age 83 of Stratford, Connecticut passed away peacefully in her home.

Fronie was a homemaker always involved with her children in school, whether volunteering in PTA meetings, Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts. She was an avid reader and writer and was chosen by Readers Digest to write a children’s book. Fronie was a very proud woman and loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; she was the inspiration of passing on the gift of her creativity to her family. Fronie had a way with all people especially her family. She always encouraged her family and others to be themselves and always thrive to do their very best in their life endeavors, she also expressed the ability to be prepared to learn from life mistakes and to forgive yourself.

Her goal was always to make everyone feel special, this awesome lady had so many gifts but besides the greatest gift of love she was a phenomenal listener!, and when needed gave sound advice. After all of that she had a great sense of humor, but listen she was also not to be taken lightly because this little lady was known to be feisty when necessary!

If our family could leave you with a thought to always remember our Fronie by...... It is that she was an advocate for children, kindness, patience and love; and she never sought attention for herself but would fight furiously for someone else. What manner of love is that but a God given gift. Our matron is gone but never forgotten.

Sophronia, is predeceased by her Father Willie Greene and Mother Olivia Dodson-Greene Brothers Willie Greene Jr., Plunk (Clarence)Greene, Haley and Wayne Greene two sisters Yutha Chavis, and Audrey Beavers, and her grandson Jourdan A. McLaughlin. Fronie is survived by her beloved husband Clyde Mclaughlin Sr . of 64 years, and children, Alfreda (Greg), Clyde McLaughin Jr., Tanya Lazaro-Young (Robert), Dawn M.
