Obituary for John A Dunn Jr.

John Alfred Dunn Jr., (Jay), 89 entered into eternal rest on 9/18/18 at the age of 89. Born in Brooklyn, NY on 3/26/1929, to parents John A and Madeline Dunn. Jay served his country in WWII as a flight engineer in the Air Force and was a key force in the Berlin Airlift before being honorably discharged. Shortly thereafter, he enrolled at MIT in Boston, MA, where upon he graduated with a Degree in Engineering. Jay, a resident of the Town of Fairfield for more than 65 years was also a member of the Fairfield National League of Women Voters and an active audience participant for the Fairfield Board of Education for more than 25 years. He was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft where he was a flight engineer and traveled on behalf of the company. In search of a better opportunity, he left Sikorsky and moved onto International Paper where he was a chemical engineer before retiring 25 years later in 1991.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Madeline Dunn, his brother, Clarence Dunn, and his son, Ozzie DeLoach. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years, Helen L. Dunn of Fairfield, daughter, Kimberly Dunn Garvey, his beloved son in law, Lindsworth Garvey and his most precious Granddaughter, Alexandra J. Garvey - lil’ Indian, all of Stratford. Sisters Doelta Lord (Eustace), NY, Eva Kirkland (Perry), NJ. His favorite nieces, Leighann Lord (NY), Lisa Madison) PA, Julene Williams (GA), and Carole Ann Thomas (MO). His favorite nephews, Paul Maddox (MO), Bruce Tabbs (PA) and David Maddox (MO), his Godchildren, Chester Beattie Jr. (TX) and Michelle Lewis (NC). To quote my Dad, he would say “I am gone, but my wisdom will live in all those I loved... Forward”.

Interment is at the convenience of the family.
