Obituary for Shelia Simpson

Shelia Gale Simpson, affectionately known as “Auntie She-she” was born on December 6, 1952 at Bridgeport Hospital to the late Thomas and Hazel Smith Simpson.

Shelia was educated in the Bridgeport Public School system and held a few positions in her early days. As a youngster, she loved traveling to South Carolina to visit family. Shelia also took many trips to New Jersey to spend time with her sister Sheltry. She enjoyed partying and dressing and was one of the best-dressed ladies in her community.

Shelia was a believer and had joined a few churches before being baptized and giving her life to Christ at Mount Aery Baptist Church. However; it was at her family’s church, the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit where Shelia visited until she became ill.

Shelia loved her children, enjoyed her nieces and nephews and adored and respected her siblings. She got great pleasure spending the holidays with her family at her sister Peggy’s house and loved entertaining the youngsters with her fun-loving energy. She was the life of the party and you were sure to laugh when she was around.

On December 23, 2018, Shelia made the transition to her heavenly home after a short illness. Shelia Gale Simpson fought a good fight and could be found in good spirits until the end. Shelia is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Hazel Simpson and siblings, John (Tomboy) Simpson and Peggy Ann Moales.

To mourn her memory, Shelia leaves her children, Raushiek Simpson and Tiffany Carter (Bridgeport) Michael (Simpson) Person (Waterbury); five grandchildren (including one of the home, Tayquan Blakley); one sister, Sheltry Simpson Ward (New Jersey); one aunt, Mattie Laws (Bridgeport); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Shelia loved life and lived it her way. Her infectious laughter will be missed beyond measure.
