Obituary for Frederick Campbell

Fredrick Campbell, “Fred” was born January 28, 1942. He passed away November 7, 2018, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut at the age of 76.

Fredrick was born and raised in Lower Peachtree, AL. He graduated from the local high School and moved to Mobile, AL. It was there he met his wife. After living there for several years they moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut.

His employment began with AVCO, GE then Connecticut VNA. While there he furthered his education with Bullard Haven Technical School and Bureau Technical Careers Institute where he received certificates and his Associate Degree. When his health started to fail him and he couldn’t work he retired.

Fred was a child of God. He gave his life to Christ at an early age at St. John AME Church in Lower Peachtree, AL. He was a faithful member there until he moved to Mobile AL. where he joined Ebenezer AME Zion Church and his dedicated and faithful work continued.

Several years after moving to Bridgeport God blessed Fred and Kathleen with a loving son, Fredrick Campbell, Jr. Fred being the faithful Christian he was had to find a church home. He joined St. Paul Baptist Church where he was a dedicated worker as a Deacon until God lead him to Russell Temple CME Church where he joined and served as a dedicated and faithful Steward for over 40 years. He didn’t only serve as a steward, but he worked with the Youth Department. He worked effectively with the Sunday school bringing in many children off the streets praying that their souls would be saved. After his health started to fail him and he wasn’t able to work he continued going to church with his family worshiping God.

For the last three years Fred and is family found a church home at First Baptist Church of Stratford in Stratford, CT., where he found peace and solace worshiping with God’s people.

Fred was the epitome of a faithful and dedicated father and husband who lead by example.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He leaves to mourn his death a loving and dedicated wife, Kathleen Campbell and one son, Fredrick Campbell, Jr. He also leaves to mourn his death one brother, Gene Campbell (Clara) of Denver, CO. and three sisters, Costella Leverett (Charlie) of Mobile, AL, Forestine Howard of Edgewater Park, NJ, Betsy Davis of Mobile, AL, two sisters-in-laws, Maggie McCaskey of Mobile, AL, Ruby Bendolph of Alexandra, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
